Last but not least.

Wow, what a journey. I can't believe how much I've learned throughout this Library 2.0 process. I must say that some of it was incredibly frustrating. I found some things not as relevant as they could be when it came to Libraries. But, with that said I can see the value in all those wonderful things. If I had one suggestion I would recommend making an account for all these websites just for our class. Then if you decided that you didn't want to sign up for everything under the sun you have that option. There are a few that I signed up for that I will never use and I wish that I could cancel some.

I loved wordle. I loved the website that helped you create your own posters. I'm way excited to use those in my library. I'm a little cautious about twitter but I can see it's use. I love my wiki. I'm very proud of it. I wowed the Murray High School Librarian. She was in the program last year and her wiki didn't get to relate to her library. I showed her how easy it was and she's excited to create one for her library. Overall, I'm thankful for this learning experience and I appreciate your insight and wisdom in the library media field. Thank you Anne.

Wordy Wordle

Wordle: Paradigm High Library This was so much fun to play with. I had a great time. I can't wait to make more. I'm still trying to learn how to change the size and make words stand out. I did learn that if you want to keep a phrase together then you put a dash. Whitney created one for her husband for their anniversary it turned out great.

Podcasts Pea Pod Podcasts do you like my alliteration that has nothing to do with it.

I looked at the other podcast websites but I have itunes so I just checked into that. I went to the book podcasts and found some interesting things.

For example they had one called
Meet the Author when I checked it is seemed to be more adult authors but who knows.
I also found the
NPR Book Podcast
Librivox Audio books. My school taps into this one for the special ed students
B & N One on One
Plato the Republic just the title sounded interesting

The most exciting one I found was called Book Lust with Nancy in Seattle. It was very fascinating. I listened to the one with Stephaine Meyer. Even though I don't really like the Twilight books. It was fun to listen to and I enjoyed it.

I'm glad I looked into it because now I can listen to some on my ipod when possible.

http://www.podcastalley.com/podcast_details.php?pod_id=54019 It's a podcast about Healthy Eating. My foods teacher has me checking out healthy eating stuff.

So, I typed in Librarian and Library in Twitter and I've never heard more swearing in my life. I heard the F word twice in one page. Where's my soap so I can wash everyone's mouth out. LOL I didn't find too much worthy info about libraries. I did find one librarian who looked like I would like to possibly "tweet" them but no one else. Everyone else seemed to talk about how they just went to the library or they had to go to the library to study etc.

Keith Richards http://twitter.com/info2go that's the librarian I found.

I actually got better results when I typed in REAL LIBRARIANS. interesting. I finally typed in library events and I found the following people.

effinghamlibrar
aMAYzin
RestoreMedia

I typed in Utah Library and found these
usmleforums
StateLibrary

To go add twitter it to your blog goodies, add to your website
Being in a high school library I am definitely serving digital natives. I can see possibly using it amongst my fellow students. I'm not sure if my administration will go for it though. I highly doubt it.

I appreciate the list of librarians who tweet because I sure struggled finding viable tweeters.

RSS and Newsreaders

I Know my brother has talked about this and I've always wondered how it works. This is a cool idea. I'm a little frustrated trying to get the Google LIbrary News up in my bloglines. I like having all my blogs in one place along with other news worthy items. All my families have blogs and I know of several library blogs that I wouldn't mind following. Can you follow wikis too? I also struggled getting flickr on there. What am I doing wrong?

I've posted Anne's response to my technical issues. Thank you so much. You are always so great to answer our questions.

4. Go to Google news
Do a search you would like to do every day to see if anything new has come up.
school library for example
at the bottom of your results page you see the orange RSS square.
Click on it.
You now arrive on a Subscribe to this feed using .... page
Select Bloglines from the drop down box.
Voila!

5.
Go to flickr. Do a search. NOTE: search GROUPS not PHOTOS
You get search results.
Select a particular group if you have more than one.
At the bottom of the group's page is the orange RSS square.
Click on it.
You now arrive on a Subscribe to this feed using .... page
Select Bloglines from the drop down box.

Alternatively you find a photographer you like and then you do the same thing (subscribe to their photostream).
Go to the RSS square etc. etc.

Another tip don't you Internet Explorer or Safari to add RSS feeds use Firefox
